was fine then not ???

i have a 91 t/a with the 700r4 in it and it has been doing ok but it has been getting a little slow on the shifts but still working fine. i got a corvette servo this weekend and put it in today and put it in just to the directions and when i got done i put a quart of fluid back in and went for a drive, but this time it wouldn't shift basically at all. i'm pretty sure its toasted because it slipping really bad. it won't shift into 2nd unless i let off the gas and then when it gets into 2nd it slips and it won't shift into OD. WTF? what happened to it? should i just get this one rebuilt? around how much will it run? should i just get a turbo 350 from a salvage? how hard would it be to put in a T-5? it sucks but i kinda felt like it was on its way out.
