7.5 REAR MAKING NOISE!!!

I installed 4.10 Motive gears in my car about 2,000 miles ago. Job turned out perfect, good gear tooth pattern, backlash 8 thousands. I just started hearing a slight noise when cruising as you accelerate. I removed the rear end cover and found the oil looking dirty. There was no metal and the ring & pinion looked fine. If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Frank

did you install the bearings dry? i've seen a few get trashed that way. another thing, does it have clutches? did you use GM additive? that would be a long shot fix.

I did use wheel bearing grease on bearings and GM additive.

i have heard that aftermarket gears are made out of a harder material than stock, and this material is not as quiet.

ok so you have the pinion depth set correctly and the back lash is good. i don't put much stock in the contact pattern if you can hit the hard numbers on the other specs since it's so supjective. you're sure the bearings are good and weren't installed dry. you have no signs of damage and no metal i nthe oil. did you break them in after the install?

I have Richmond gears in mine and mine are as quiet as my stock one was.

Isnt there something like a crush sleve or something.....you can only tighten it so far, if you went to far you need to get a new one. I had to do that to mine when I first put mine in. Mine was making a hummmming noise. Swapped out the crush sleve, added posi additive, and I was good to go.
