ok if this sounds all wrong i am sorry. my friend explained it to me. so i am swapping out tranys, 700r4 to 700r4. later is performance. so he had to swap spedo gears and i guess there was a clip holding the spedo gear from moving forward and aft. when he took it off it broke. parts store doesn't carry it, neither does certified trans. this is the only thing holding back my car from being finished. any info will be very helpful. thank you.

"Rotate the transmission output shaft until the clip securing the drive gear is facing you." this was in the "swapping spedo gears" tech article. this is the clip i am talking about.

 

The GM dealership and most tranny shops carry the clip you need for probably a couple of bucks.
