Transmission: 700R4 Both Cars
Axle/Gears: 3.23 Posi.. 4 wheel disc both cars
Best newer trans??

This may have been ask before, but I didnt find it searching.....If you were going to replace a 89 700r4, with a trans out of a newer car, what would be the best choice????? Pro's??? Con's???? I want a drop in job.......Are there any??? Thanks for any advice.....Tom

Newer means electronic. Our cars will not run an electronic trans without a sererate controller for the trans.

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
You also have to understand that other than F-body cars, the only choices for a newer RWD tranny is from a truck.

Best "newer" tranny? 6L80E. I doubt it would fit into a third gen. Adapting a 4L80E is hard enough and it's a big heavy tranny not really required for a lightweight car.

An all round strong tranny that's a relatively easy swap would be a TH400. If you really think you need an OD, pick up a 200-4R
