Manual guys... hatch switch?

You guys with stock 5 spd cars, do you have to press in the clutch and then hit the switch on the center console to open the hatch? What about when the car is on or off?

Just curious i just switched over from an auto to a T56 and i have to press the clutch first and then hit the hatch release. With the car on or off its the same. Was that factory style?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
The correct function for a stick shift car, is that it requires that the parking brake be operated if the engine is running. If the engine is not running, it works regardless.

I'm sure a quick look at ANY factory service manual would show the right way to do it, rather than hack up the car's wiring.

Or, look at a manual, find what wiring is different from an auto car, and go to the junkyard and get it, and just plug it in. Hack-free.

thats the way you have to wire it i didnt think mine worked then i thought well in the auto it had to be in park to pop becuase of that safety switch so i pushed the clutch. Its like that becuase of the auto's safety switch when you wire the clutch safety to it that happens which isnt a bad thing. Kind of a trick pop.

Ya, when all was said and done thats how mine just happened to work. There are still 2 wires from the old automatic wiring under the console that were not used orange and a black wire. Was curious about those, id like the pop switch to work without having to press the clutch when the car is off. I will have to check into more detail.

Orange & black = batt (interior light ckt) & ground

I'll look at my service manual and see what wiring assembly is needed.
