388 stroker with 305 flywheel and T5

ok did some searching and want to double check what i've discovered.
I have a 388 stroker with a 400 crank and a stock 305 flywheel and a WC T5. I'm switching from an externally balanced flexplate to this flywheel. So all I need to use this 305 flywheel on my motor is the balancing plate you can buy? Am i correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You probably need to be more specific. Factory or aftermarket crank? Factory was an external balance and early 305s were, too, I think. Aftermarket cranks are usually internally balanced. Probably best bet would be to contact your manufacturer of choice and ask questions based on the info you have.

Right, you can can just buy a balance plate for like 15 bucks. But make sure that you need to externally balance your setup.

Yeah my rotating assembly is externally balanced. I have a TCI flexplate part#399373 on my automatic right now. So from what I've read so far I can either get the balance plate and offset the flywheel that way or get my flywheel "unbalanced" to match the TCI at a machine shop. Correct? Also, is the plate that bolts in between the flywheel and crank gonna mess up any clearances?

I have run the balance plate with no problems. Although a member here on the forums had some major issues with his clutch master cylindar. I think he went through 3 of them because of some clearance issue? I'm not sure. Yeah, either buy an externally balanced flywheel or slap on the balance plate. *shrug*
