what happened to my clutch

i was leaving my friends house friday night and everyone was busting my ***** to do a burnout. so i did. i started in first, then got second, then shifted into third and i though the tires were still roasting but a guess the clutch was also slipping. then i let off on the gas and tryied to shift into 4th gear so that i could leave. to my suprise i could not shift into any gears. so i rolled it off into some side street just in case a cop showed up. i called up my friends and they came down and helped me push it back to his house. the next day i get out of work and called my friend to get the number for the tow truck (i have is card in my car). i told him, just for kicks start it up and see if it will go into gear and move on its own. to my suprise again it moved. i went to his house started it up and drive it home (my friend followed). it drove pefectly fine and i live about 30 mins from his house. like nothing ever happend. what do you think happened.

i have not posted in a while so ill give the list of what is done to my car:

scott shairoff 434sbc
stock clutch
stock T-5 trans
currie 9" with detroit true trac posi and 411 gears

i know the stock clutch and trans should not be in there but i just want to know what happend to my clutch that night. thanks alot

If it's a hydraulic clutch you may have overheated the fluid. After it cooled off it worked fine again. Look at the fluid and see if it's black. Sure sign of heat. If it's a mechanical clutch it's possible to overheat the disc but that stinks so bad everyone for a block around would have smelled it.
