Transmission swap

well i plan on doing the v6 to v8 engine swap on my 84', i was told the transmission wont work up to the 305, if i got a another 700r4 transmission from a v8 car would it be alot of hassle to install it?

As long as you got the V8 installed, it should bolt right up. The same shifter, cable, and crossmember will probably work just fine too.

Get the tranny BEFORE you install the v8 - then connect tranny to engine and drop it in as one unit - makes it alot easier than trying to get those tranny bolts from under the car. You'll need a load leveler on your hoist, and at least one other set of hands to help guide it in. Make sure the radiator is removed from the car so you don't poke a hole in it.

One suggestion - if going to the trouble of a v8 swap - swap in a 350 - it's all the same trouble, but a 350 will be so much better!

Thanks for the info guys, i was getting alittle discouraged on the swap but now im all for it, it definetly worth it, but i might go ahead with a 350, i was afraid it would blow the 700r4
