Astro Van 700r4?

ive been looking in yards for another 700r4 to run behind my 305 sine the original one died. i dont plan on doing much if anything to the tranny except aftermarket cooler and the 305 is milldly built so it shouldnt be too bad. anyway this one yard has a few out of astro vans and they said it will work fine behind my 305 as long as i swap out the tail shaft for the onethat goes w/ my tq arm. i can get it for $175 and 30day garantee. anyone else done this or can give me any advice or info on these like does it stall higher like some s10's and work with my electrical connections? thanks im going to get it next thursday if i make sure it works

If you are going to buy one from the yards, drop the pan and check for clutch/band material on the bottom of the pan away from the magnet, If there is material on the bottom of the pan, pass....... If the bottom is clear from clutch/band material, and there is very little metal on the magnet (the metal that is found on the magnet must be very fine in nature, no chunks of metal) & the fluid is in decent shape, then this is probably the best one to take a chance with. I would add the Corvette servo at a minimum, as this will improve the 1-2 & 2-3 shift. The TV cable must be set correctly right from the beginning.
