OK guys I am ready to fly right off the handle! I am having one hell of a time getting this T-5 to as they say "just slide right in".

I have got it to the point that the flange on the tranny is ready to mate with the bell housing, but it stops there. We are talking about half an inch and I am home free. I have lightly greased the input shaft, used an alignment tool and all the splines have engaged to the best of my knowledge.

I would really like to know if anyone else has encountered this issue and how to rersolve it.

The attached photo is the shifter hole cut in an automatic trans tunnel, for thos of you doing this conversion.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Have the clutch hooked up and have someone depress the clutch pedal as you slide the tranny in. The problem is that the clutch disk isn't in perfect alignment and the tranny input shaft is hanging up on the pilot bushing.
Happens all of the time with those plastic alignment tools.

I actually removed the bell housing loosened the clutch, inserted the tranny into the flywheel and made sure that the pilot bearing was engaged. With the trans still in place, I tightened everything back up and removed the trans then reinstalled everything ... lo and behold, it slipped right in!

Now moving on ...
