I think I need to lubricate the speedo cable or maybe the gear in the speedo. When I get over 20 mph it starts making a dry sounding squeek that increases in frequency the faster I go.

Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to solve?

 

With as many miles as you have on the car, the speedo cable could easily require lubrication.

This is already the 2nd speedo cable. Not looking to replace this time, that was a pain. Looking for ideas as to how to lube it.

 

Disconnect the cable/housing from the tranny. Pull the cluster to access the cable. Pull the cable out of the housing. Flush the housing with a cleaner (I used brake cleaner) until clear. Reattach the cable/housing to the tranny. Fill your palm with Syl-Glyde (Napa) or another lube designed for speedo cables and run the cable through it and into the housing. You may have to twist the cable a bit to reseat it in the driven gear. Replace the cluster.

I got some dry graphite stuff that's supposed to be for lubricating speedo cables, but it doesn't seem to work very well. The stuff James suggested is probably your best bet. I need to do the same thing. Now that the weather's getting cold, I noticed my cable making the same noise as yours.
