question?

i have a queston about rear axles.... will a rear end from a 1990 IROC-Z w/ 3.23 gears fit in a 1988 IROC-Z with 2.73? how much does it cost to make the switch and do i have to modify anything?

any help would be appreciated thank you

The axles will not swap from the '88 to the '90 rear end, the spline counts will be different.

The rear end from the '90 will, however, swap right over to the '88. If you're looking to swap rear ends I'd recommend, at a minimum opening the cover on the rear end and inspecting the innards (is that one "n" or two?). Make sure you don't have a gov-lock and have the ring/pinion you're expecting. Make sure the wheel seals are good, refill with new fluid and bolt it in. Swap over brake hardware if needed. Pick up the correct speedo gear and you're done.

Shouldn't cost more than around $20 for fluid, maybe some posi additive (if it's posi) and a speedo gear.
