Ok I have read all most all the posted material which took several hours and now I have a question

My 84 305 bird was aquired over a year ago and came carbed with no ecm. I nerer had any reason to question the tcc lock up issiue and it never really caught my attention.

I found the guy who use to own the car and converted it over to carb. He said he never touched the tcc or anything just unplugged and removed the ecm and cleaned up the bay.

So my daughter has drove the car since last august almost everyday in Florida hot weather, trips on the freeway 50 plus miles one way non stop, heavy traffic and I have not had any trans problems. I have drove the car hard on several ocassions and no problems. What gives????? shifts better that the one in my new Z71?

Do I need to worry at this point? Keep driving?? also the car never gets real hot. Has a new 160 stat that works fine? I'm going to put a trans cooler on anyway. The carb a 600 edelbrock is craped out and fixing to be replaced with a new one but still getting 16 plus mpg average?
