rear end question
I have whatever the stock 1991 Camaro RS v6 came with(1 legger 2.xx)
I just put a 350 TPI 700r4 Tranny in the car running great etc... now the question is what rearend swap do i want? should i go with this 4th gen 2001 SS 10 bolt rear end with 20k miles on it, with new pads and rotors. It is a ABS rear with no TCS, 3.23.
Is that an easy swap? will the stock rims fit on it? im guessing no...
or should i find a little bit higher of gear and make it be a 3rd gen?
thanks in advance

In general, you need at least 3-4" bigger rims than you have rotors, ie: my factory 15" rims fit over LT1 11" rears, but just barely. A lot of the time you won't know till you try it, but this thread has quite a few tested situations:

Also, the 4th gen rearend is a little wider than the 3rd gen unit, but otherwise it should bolt right up.
I currently run around with 3.23's and a 350, and I love it. The 350's got enough torque to get off the line pretty well, and the 3.23's are low enough to give pretty good gas mileage on the highway.
Ultimately, it's what the car is going to be used for and personal preference that decides your ratio. A lot of people find 3.23's just fine, while nothing shorter that 3.73 will do for others. I would have loved to have gotten my hands on a set of 3.42's, which are real popular because they provide a great average of mechanical advantage for acceleration and fuel economy.
