i have a 4l60e that is acting up. i had posted in the lt1 swap forums there. when hard acceleration from stand still the car breaks traction rev limits and continues to spin tires and bounce limit until i let off the gas, soon as i do so it shifts into second, is this common? if there is something the matter with the 4l60e, how difficult is a rebuild? i see videos advertised online on how to do it yourself with step by step procedures for just the 94+ 4l60e. the type of work i do, we have to read legands <schematics> for trouble shooting and im mechanically enclined. my question is, is it very difficult? or straight forward? would a video be recommended? or do you guys have any other suggestions on how to educate yourself on a tear down/rebuild.

It is a very difficult unit to rebuild.
If I can do it, so can you. Pick up a video and an atsg manual from e-bay and review it before diving in.

 

I carry the ATSG build books and the DVD from technical video for these units. I have everything that is needed to build this unit right. If you have any questions on this let me know?

 

I was not aware Dana had the books and video or I would have suggested Pro-Built first. I have purchased his parts, and both quality and service are great.

 

does it sound like this is a problem with the transmission? or is this normal?

 

The motor is at high rpm, you lift and it up shifts....yeah, that sounds fairly normal.

 

took it up the street again last night alittle <no tags on it yet haha> and gently accelerating it went up to 3500 rpms, when i let off the gas it shifted.... could this be a throttle positioning sensor issue?
