cant find third on downshift

i have a 91 305 with t-5.when i am going thru the gears it does fine.but when i go to gear down from fourth to third i cant find it at all.its like its out of adjustment.if i go into second then third its not a problem.just aggrevating not being able to rip it back to third withoput having to hunt it.a freind said it might be out of adjustment or something.is there a way to adjust it.it seems like the gate is off a little or something.anyone else have any problems with this.it doesnt grind or anything its like it just isnt lined up to go to third.

i think a new shifter would solve that problem
best choice would probly be a Pro 5.0

Your friend is probably thinking of the older manual trannys where the shifter has external linkage. Those can be adjusted, but the T5 is an internal rail type shift linkage, so there's nothing to adjust. The factory shifters are sloppy anyways. If you can afford it, you'd be much happier with a Pro 5.0 or a Hurst Billet Plus. There's a slight chance it could be something with the offset block or shifter bushing, both of which are located underneath the shifter, but more than likely it's the shifter itself that's the problem.

I have the Pro 5.0 and I have the same issue.
I had leaking hydraulics but I changed that and it still does it. I think my issue may be TO bearing or clutch.

When you downshift, try blipping the throttle and see if it will slide into 3rd.
