What does this differential additive actually do and is it necessary for my Limited Slip Differential? 1991 305 RS auto

Yes you need to use the additive. I wouldn't recomend the Equatorque though. Get the GM additive. It's alot better.

I work with police cars, and they require the additive. What happens if you don't add the additive is they start to chatter. Also, they require synthetic gear oil, but that's not too necessary.
