Transmission Swap for TKO 600

I recently ordered a transmission from Kiesler, TKO 600, They built and shipped it off of me telling them it was for an 87 TA with a ZZ385 engine. They shipped the engine for me and I found out when installing it that the tail housing is 6inches too far back. I called them to tell them and they said that I must have given them measurements which I did not do.... because they were never asked for... I want to send it back for the right thing but they want me to pay shipping there and back which is almost 300 dollars. I dont think its fair b/c its their mistake... what can I do, the tranny cost almost 3500

Re: Transmission Swap for TKO 600

I'd like to know what application the trans they shipped you is supposed to fit. I've never heard of ordering a TKO with a longer tailshaft before. The GM spec TKO 600 is a perfect fit in a thirdgen. The only thing that's different is that they sometimes put a little longer input shaft in to make up for the 1" adapter plate you have to use if you're bolting it up to a stock T5 bellhousing, but the tail shaft length shouldn't be any different. I know this doesn't help your plight, but Keisler is way overpriced for their TKO kits anyways. They pander to the masses through ads in Car Craft and other mags. I'm sure they'd correct the mistake for free if it was for one of the magazines building a project car, just to protect their reputation, but when it comes to an individual, who the hell are you? Maybe you ought to see if they'll refund your money minus the amount to ship it back to them, and buy a kit from Forte's Parts Connection instead. They're the ones who designed the thirdgen TKO swaps to begin with, and you can get a complete kit from them for about $2300. I've done a lot of research on the price and availability of TKO swaps for the thirdgens, and Keisler seems to be $1000-$1500 higher than anyone else. This is because they claim that their kits are a "perfect fit". It sure doesn't sound like they're backing that claim up in your case. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Re: Transmission Swap for TKO 600

Hey Pat
I basically told Kiesler to **** themselves... I took the tranny and modified the tailhousing myself. just swapped it around to fit,, maybe about an inch back from stock, Im gonna have to modify the tunnel but not a problem. Easier to do than argue with them about it. + they wont take the tranny back anymore because it was a "special order" or whatever they define that by. BS... I wont ever be ordering from them again, and I recomend any third gen driver do the same. Oh sorry 57kid couldnt figure out where else to put the post. sorry

Glad to hear you got it worked out. No thanks to Keisler huh? It's a shame that this site actually has a link to those guys. I don't respect any business that can take $3500 from someone without batting an eye, then do nothing to help you when a problem arises. Good for you for telling them where to stick it!

I have also had feeble after sale response from Keisler... though my problems were not big issues like yours.
