Re: shift kit

i recomend transgo as will most of this board. as far as if it will last...that depends on the current condition of your tranny.

Re: shift kit

It will give it nice crisp shifting and depending on wha shift kit you get you might be able to up and down shift at any rpm. I had a transgo in mine when it had the 305 in it and it would shift so hard the *** end would kick out sideways. I had to put in some new control arms.

Re: shift kit

Transgo or Superior, stay away from the cheapies like B&M if you want to give it a chance. As for whether or not it will last...as stated, depends on the current condition of the trans.

- you deffinitely don't want a shift that breaks the tires loose....

Re: shift kit

I installed the Transgo HD kit, a vette servo and .5 boost valve it actually seemed to tame the shifts some as crazy as it sounds. When I drilled my sep plate I did as close to the "center" of the ranges as I could, if I was going to do it again I'd probably go more aggressive. I may also check the ATSG book I have and custom tailor my shifts that way. They are brief but not violent, which is fine by me.

"They are brief but not violent" That is exactly what you want!!! When done right, you can have smooth part throttle shifts, and the shifts getting firmer with more throttle.

Yes, I added Hy-gard however and it seems to have caused the shifts to be sluggish. Even though it doesn't seem that much more viscous it makes a big difference in how the trans behaves, as a whole I like it though, especially on the top end.
