Flexplate/Starter Question
Flexplate/Starter Question
Hi guys.I have a 5.0l 305 out of a 1991 RS Camaro in my wifes 1976 Camaro. The 91 RS was a 5 speed car.I went to the salvage yard and got a flexplate to replace the flywheel of the standard because I am using a turbo 350 tranny. The guy that I bought it from said that all the "ONE PEICE seal motors had the same flywheel so he sold me one off of a 350 truck engine.I also went to the local parts store and bought a small starter for a 1998 Chevy Tahoe with a 350.Well the car starts fine but I have a vibration that was not in the engine when it was in the 91 RS.Replaced U joints to make sure.No better.New tires. It even seems like a main is trying to rattle a lil because of vibration.IS IT THE FLEXPLATE?Can the 305 and the 350 share the same flexplate?I know the one on the car has a weight on it.ANY HELP would be greatly apreciated. THANKS

Re: Flexplate/Starter Question
some have a weight and some dont
its kind of complicated, this subject has been discussed a million times in this board,
in 86 they moved the extra iron from the 85 and older rear crank end to the flexplate, this is why 86 and up are different plus the bolt pattern changed too and it wouldnt swap anyways
in one recent thread i posted links to pages with this info i dont know where it is now ill try and find it
