blew up my rebuild
blew up my rebuild
Well, I have a 700R4 which previously had a .5 boost valve, 'vette servo and Transgo HD shift kit. I had the 3-4 pack burn up, the other clutches had were dark but not gone like the 3-4 pack was (148K on the trans) well, I put a basic kit into it (BW clutches/steels) the pack had about 80 thousandths clearance for 3-4. After it wasn't behaving right I pulled it apart, 3-4 pack is done, but the rest of the stuff looks ok. Being I'm on the virge of broke, and don't want to be doing this again any time soon I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. The TV assembly was messed up, I was running a TPI cable on the TBI system and didn't quite realize they were different. Besides this am I right about being concered over the 3-4 pack clearance? I'm also wondering if a 9 clutch pack is the solution, the backing plate may be part of the cause as well. It's definitely got a blued color to it, and a few thousandths wear.
Re: blew up my rebuild
1.Make sure you check your clearences
2.make sure your line pressure is good
3.make sure you get new thrust bearings & spacers (cheap)
4.air check your pistion seals (low pressure)
5.after assembly, check input shaft play
6.make sure valve body gaskets are align and check ***** are correctly placed
7.check your valves in valve body for free movement
8.pressure-adjust your tv cable (shop recommended)
9.new teflon input shaft seals
10.align pump gasket (no overlap)
11.watch temp. (get a cooler and gauge)
get red eagle cluches w/ black steels
and or z-pack (clearence problem solver just make sure you have a number 7 stamped piston)
