Need help with a torque converter

I've got a 305 with a comp cams xe262h, a performer rpm q-jet intake, headman headers, 3" exhaust, and a k & n air filter. Whats gonna be the best torque converter for my 700r4 auto tranny? I also have 3.23 gears.

Re: Need help with a torque converter

stock, or just slightly higher

the mods that you have listed dont warrant the use of a high stall TC

I agree. You may want to check into Stock replacement convertors but stay away from Carbed & TBI units, they have a 1200-1400 stall. The 305 TPI was a 1650 stall which might be good for you, or the Factory "high stall" 2000 was available in the 350 TPI applications. I wouldn't go any higher than that. I have a Rebuilt 1650 if you need one.
