Hello guys im new to the site.. this is my first post.. I have an 1987 T-tops Iroc Z28 that has had the 700R4 rebuilt and a carburated 350 put in it. When i bought it i was told the previouse owners couldent get it out of first gear. at first i though the TCC was wired wrong so we checked it all out and found out that all we needed to do is wire ti up to 12 volts. after doing that the car would shift.. but only with the torque converter unlocked (TCC off). so i though all my problems were solved and put a swich on the 12 volts. next day i get to the shop fire it up and i hear a light kind of metal to metal scraping sound coming from what sounded like the torque converter. put it into drive and bam wont come out of 1st again. this sound has seamed to get louder every time i start the car. i have ben told two different thing and im not sure what i should do. first i was told it was the tuorqe converter and that replacing this would solve my problems, then by a different person i was told its the pump.. any ideas? anything would help! thanks!
One more thing. for the grinding we have ruled out the starter. and incase the switch was bad we disconnected the 12 volts completely. still nothing.
