My transmission seems to be slipping or going into overdrive by itself. I have a 1991 Camaro RS V8 5.0 Automatic. The tranny started to mess up after I fixed a short circuit inside the car which would make the gauges not work. I also fixed a white switch that has something to do with the brake. Its a switch that is visible before the high beam switch and there is one just like it next to it. I'm guessing it was that but I don't even know what the switch does.

 

Sounds like you found and repaired the TCC switch. It is white and has a plunger that is operated by the brake pedal. I fixed mine and it took a little while to get used to the converter locking up like it's supposed to.

 

Can I disconnect it, drive around and my tranny will be fine?
