Re: rear end question

no these cars only got the 7.5", and the 9 bolt, and supposedly a few rare dana 44 axles

8.5 was under some other cars, and wagons and trucks

Re: rear end question

8.5" 10 bolt was mostly used in the second gen F body cars. They started using the 8.5" in 1971 and used it in the camaro and firebird up to 1981.

The third gens got 7.5" 10 bolt, 7.625" 10 bolt, Danna 44, and Borg Warner 9 bolt rears.

The 7.5" with 26 spline axles was in 1982 to 85. Then in '86 through 1990 GM upgraded the rears a tad and enlarged the ring gear to 7.625". Same housing, cover, etc is the ring gear was enlarged. Then in mid 90 all the way to 2002 they upgraded the 10 bolt again. No changes to ring gear just went from 26 spline axles to 28 spline.

During the third gen run some cars got the "better" BW 9 bolt and has been said a very few got the danna 44

Hey there, What's the difference between a 3 series and other carriers? How do you tell them apart?
