Torque Arm ? ? ?

I was just reading a post in another section that mentioned a sliding torque arm. Is the torque arm supposed to have much movement in the front mount? Mine has obviously been apart and put back together badly. The rubber bushing is all mangled and screwed up in the housing. I bought an ES poly bushing but never put it in. Seemed like a lot of work ! Is it worth it to put the poly bushing in ?
