700R4 date
I have a 700R4, that is a remanufactured unit, that I'm trying to sell. Can anyone help figure out when this thing was rebuilt?
Here is some pix:

The white label that says R DOT has a serial # of 1030058, on the green plate the serial # is 277 9141602, and on the edge right where the tail shaft bolts on there is a number engraved, it says 1H516483
Thanks!

On the right side there is a ID number. Just above the pan lip at the opposide end as the servo cover (round) on the back right side, is a rectangular flat boss area. There should be a series of letters/numbers there. Write them down and post them up.

Re: 700R4 date
so your really putting a T5 in that vette huh? I didnt figure many people did that to the C4's, i read about them doing it to C3s all the time though.. but they were around to get equipped with the weakest engines in all of history :P

Re: 700R4 date
Sorry then. I cant help you on that one =( Maybe try to contact a dealership service/parts center. It is a reman unit Im sure they have installed B4. Or try to contact Hydramatic. Serial number leads to some thing.

Re: 700R4 date
Joe,
On the drivers side of the trans, near the shifter shaft, there is a dime sized circle with the date cast into it. A small wire brush will clean it up well enough to read it easily.
I have never been able to figure out how GM codes their remanns. It is a shame they grind off the factory stamping when the attach the green tag.
