I've recently installed a tci 700r and sat night special converter and theres a whining sound coming from around the torque converter. It will not shift out at full throttle, and at times is sloppy even at half throttle. last night I was driving down the road and it seemed to be doing ok, then my check engine light come on and it got sloppy again. This makes no sense to me because the tranny isn't even computer controlled. Any help appreciated.

 

When you installed the converter did it click in 3 times. Just checkin to see if it was fully seated before you bolted it up to the flexplate.

 

I actually don't know, my uncle did that part. He's a mechanic tho so I maybe he didn't mess up.

 

the books suggest to check the pump for broken vanes.

 

If something in the tranny is messed up I'm gonna be really pissed.

 

Seems to be working fine now except it won't shift out of first at full throttle unless I let off the gas and get back in it...every other gear seems to shift fine. Any ideas?

 

Just read something about the speedo sensor/gear needing to be hooked up for the tranny to shift right. Anyone know anything about this?
