I was wondering does anyone have an idea of a good posi rearend to put on a street car. its a daily driver but i plan on racing it street and possibly strip sometimes. also just curious... what would be a good transmission to use? should i rebuild the 700r4 and put a shiftkit on it... or is there something better that i could do?

For a daily driver, stick with the 10 bolt, stick a posi in it, or get a 9 bolt out of a GTA (others got them, but GTAs got them as standard equipment). The 9 bolts are all disc an posi, but repair parts are harder to cheap, and cost more than 10 bolts parts, when you need something.

 

you didn't say whether you're sticking with the factory rearend (didn't indicate what you had either), or whether you were going to spend megabucks in going with a 12-bolt, Ford 9-inch, or Dana 60. those variables would influence the scope of the possible answers. so many options, so little money, only one car to work on. sigh.
