700R4 & torque converter ID

I've just removed the tranny from my 86'T/A, and replaced it with a
4L60 from a 91' L98 Z28. I'm trying to identify what year the 700R4
that I took out is. I know it came out of a 1/2 ton Silverado, possibly
an 85 or 86'. I also need to find out what torque converter I have in
my 4L60. Here is the ID off of the Silverado 700: 61 3MDY. Here is the
ID off the converter: DGCF.

Re: 700R4 & torque converter ID

D = 85-up 30spline G= approx 1400RPM C= dampner type (TCC Clutch Plate) F= 3 Square Lugs on flywheel side (mounts) A DCLF which I think was the code on the S10 4.3 Converter is a popular mod. It has one of the highest stock stall speeds. Something like 2100 tops. V8s got less stall

Im not sure exactly anout the Tranny tho. That ID looks a little jumbled. But the 6 does indicate a 1986. MD is the model (700R4). Should read 6 MD ### and a D,N,A,B,C or H last. That last letter indicated shift. N=Night, D=Day, A&B=1stShift and C&H-2ndShift. Example : 6 MD 134 B

Re: 700R4 & torque converter ID

Thanks for the info Mikz86TA, I'll take another look at the tranny ID and make sure it's correct when I go back to my buddy's house to pick it up. I hope your rebuild is going well.

Re: 700R4 & torque converter ID

No Problem and THX. I have to find time to get back on it. A few personal things going on right now keeping me away from it. But this weekend I should be getting the rest back together. Maybe put it in next week sometime too =)
