Detent Cable Help

I have been trying to change my detent cable. I bought a used one, I got one that came off a the tranny I bought, 2 at oreillys didnt match up, and one I got from a Pontiac garage. None of them will work. The one from the pontiac garage is the same length, but the metal wire inside is too short to reach the throttle. The other ones, are longer than the original, but the metal wire inside is too short as well. What am i missing/what am I doing wrong? Should I try putting a different mount on that holds the cable closer to the throttle.
Heres are pics of the cables. And the throttle. Does everything look right on the throttle.
Could I use the bracket off my LG4 and use one of the longer cables

Re: Detent Cable Help

Is this the orig motor? Looks like a TBI. Is that the TBI bracket?

Re: Detent Cable Help

Ya its a TBI. Its not the original motor, I changed it out a couple of years ago. But kept the original cable. I have another bracket from the original engine, but it looks the same. I'll try changing it later. I just got back from O'reillys a few minutes ago, we went through bunch of cables and couldnt match it up with anything. They even looked up the number on the cable and couldnt find anything. I am really stumped.

Re: Detent Cable Help

Should use a std TBI cable. As long as its a TBI bracket and fuel unit
