Road Racing Rear End

Im going to start building on my suspension this xmas with tax returns coming in and wanted to get some rear end advice. I plan on putting in a 400ci single turbo motor producing 600-700 rwhp on 93 octane with a beefed up t56 behind it. My goal is to have a car capable of mid to low 11s quarter miles...(not launching real hard either) and be one hell of a twistie, road racer.

Now that you have the info, heres the question. My 1989 gta should come with the 3.27 borg warner 9 bolt if i read the tech specs correctly. Do I really need to go with an expensive ford 9" or 12 bolt setup or can i upgrade my 9 bolt with 31 spline axles, better posi, etc...and make it strong enough to hold up to my performance application. The car would be mainly used for road courses, and dragged maybe 2 times a year just for fun. Whats recommended?

There's nothing you can do to upgrade the 9 bolt. If you need a strong diff, you'll need to buy a 9" or 12 bolt.

You're willing to spend all the money on an engine and tranny. You'll also need to spend the money on a diff to handle all that power. It's a package deal.

Run what your have. If it ever breaks, then decide how much it's worth to upgrade.
