ford T5 on a sbc....can it be done???

Hi everyone. I came across a ford T5 out of a 94 mustang GT with a 5.0 in it. A freind of mine has it and he said he would give it to me for free if I could use it. I know another kid who put a ford T5 on a 305 tpi engine, so I know it can be done. What would I need to do to get it to work on my engine(355 tpi)? And would it be worth it? I also have a hays flywheel and centerforce clutch meant for the GM T5 so does anyone know if it's possible to swap a GM input shaft to the ford tranny?

Reasonably speaking? No. It'd be smarter to sell it and get the right trans.

It's ok for a custom hotrod where there's no console but it's not worth the hassles for a 3rd gen.

There use to be an aftermarket bellhousing for this, but I don't think it has the 18 deg rotation that a 3rd gen needs. The shifter is in the wrong spot (too far forward) so you can't use a 3rd gen console. You'll need too use a ford style clutch disk.

Go ahead and take the free transmission, sell it and use the money to buy the T5 that will work in your car. Or better yet use the money toward a T56.

That's it right there: how to install a Frod transmission in a GM car, in 2 easy steps.

1. Sell Frod box

2. Buy GM box

Piece of cake.

LOL, well thanks guys. It was worth a try. Guess I'll go for the simple way and buy a GM one.
