New to the t-5 questions!
Hey all, I currently have a Lb9 (305 tpi) Formula, auto.
I just picked up a t-5 complete swap parts (everything).
Now, I could port the plenum, do a L98 cam, and bolt ons to the 305, and swap in the t-5.
I do have a complete low km L98 ready to go in.
Would a t-5 handle a l98's power output (stock).
I know gm never put them behind a 350, but is there a beefup kit for them? Anything I can do, anybody done this?.

Re: New to the t-5 questions!
Look at the engine trans combo under my avatar. Mine is still alive, it is the stock world class T5 and it is the 4th engine it has been behind. I run a stock clutch setup and dont slam the gears as hard as i can. That is my secret to keeping it alive. From a dead stop to the end of second gear my back bumper is at the front bumper of a 02 firehawk with boltons, in third i start putting it down. So im lucky, some people have theese break behind stock 305s.

Ditto with me. I have an 89 5.7TPI just bought the whole T-5 combo to swap my 700R4. Pedals, master slave cylinder and complete tranny with crossmember. It's stock. I intend to baby it since I've had the car for 20Yrs.Can anyone give me a breakdown of exactly where to drill for the clutch cylinder in the firewall?Any pic would help greatly.

Re: New to the t-5 questions!
As long as you don't plan to do any clutch dropping turning 2500 or 3 grand you should be OK. My 305 HO is stock except for bolt-ons, but since clutch dropping is one of my favorite activities i have gone through 3 t-5s and 1 muncie m-21. on the t-5s i used a stock clutch, on the muncie i used a ram clutch kit(the muncie lasted 6 weeks) i think it was the stock clutches i used with the t-5s that made them last as long as they did, so he's definatly right about that. i have had a couple of stock clutches fail, but that's better than busting the trans. That's why i went with the TKO, i got tired of replacing it
