Tranns question
I heard of people talking about the Richmond 6speed trannsmission so i finally took a peek at it and i see why they do talk about it. It says something about the T5 (manual F-Body right?). I assume it means its compatable with the car then so, would it be possible to do a tranns swap from a 700R4 to the Richmond 6spd? and if so is there anything i have to do?

Re: Tranns question
I think a new trans crossmember and driveshaft will need to be replaced, I dont know much maybe even anything about swapping these but thats what I see people talking about and doing so....yeah, soon someone will chime in who has done this...
Im positive its not direct swap though.

Re: Tranns question
It more or less bolts into a T-5 car. So to put it in an auto car, you need to do the manual conversion (pedals, hydraulics, flywheel, bell housing, clutch, etc.); and then it will go right in. It comes with its own crossmember and shifter (the ONLY one that will work with it), works with the stock torque arm, but requires drive shaft length and yoke changes IIRC.
However, once you look at the price ($3200-3500 ON UP just for the trans, depending on options), I think you'll find that it's not exactly something you'd just slap in there on a lark; you can get something that will work as well or better, for about half that money; and its ratios and such will work FAR better with some rear gears than others. In short, it's not the be-all/end-all choice.
You'll also notice that most of the people talking about it, don't have one of those, OR one of the other alternatives to the T-5 such as the T-56, TKO, etc. In other words, they're mostly just quoting magazine articles or ad copy, with no real hands-on knowledge. Just, talk.
