Remove clutch pedal and hydraulics. Bolt some metal over shifter hole and mount an aftermarket auto shifter, install auto trans. Not a whole lot to it...

i'm doing the exact same swap on an rs, i just picked up the 700r4,out of another camaro, flywheel and a stock shifter yesterday, like "z28*****" implied i believe its going to be a pretty straight forward swap. its raining today, but i plan to get on it this week. i'll keep you posted. Did you change engines? i went from a v6/t5 to a 5.7 carbureted motor, so i'll have to swap out the switch that locks/unlocks the converter, for one GM sells that doesnt need the ecu. all my ecu is being used for is my fuel pump on initial start up/ACC. the switch is around $12 dollars, a friend who is using a 700r4 in an earlier model car has done this on his and another friends, and it works great, and seeings how some ppl are selling $150 conversion kits to do the same thing, i thought i would throw this info out there, just in case. anyways other than that (in my case) and an aftermarket cooler, it should be an easy swap. i'll keep you posted. by the way my name is Sean, and good luck.

If your car was a factory equipped 5 speed car, you'll probably have to get an engine harness from an automatic car so that you have the 3 wire, TCC lockup control that plugs into the trans, unless you're good enough with wiring to figure out how to add those into your existing harness. You'll also need a prom chip from an auto car to control the TCC circuit. Another good idea for covering the shifter hole would be to go to a junkyard and have them cut out the tunnel section from an auto f-body, and have it welded in, or use sheet metal screws and some kind of body sealer to cover the hole, which would provide a way to mount a factory 700r4 shifter. Unless you're Joe Drag Racer, I'd rather have the factory shifter than a troublesome aftermarket one. You'll also need the metal cooling lines that run from the radiator to the trans, and make sure that your radiator has the fittings for the lines to connect to. None of this stuff should be hard to come by since the auto cars are WAY more common, and easy to find. The reason you can't find much info on this swap is the fact that 99% of the swaps people do are the opposite of what you're doing (i.e. going from auto to manual). There was a guy who posted on here about a year ago who swapped from 5 speed to auto, and his posts had some good info. If you search a little harder, you should be able to find his posts. There's so many guys who've ditched their autos for manuals that you could probably get most of the parts for free, other than shipping costs.

You wanna sell the five speed. Oh and you'll need a crossmember from an auto car.
