TH350...how to tell what has/has not been done

I picked up a TH350trans last fall at the Englishtown swapmeet out of an 86 Firebird.

Before you all beat on me saying this trans never came with that car, etc. etc It was a stripped out braket car with a 350 carbed motor, this trans and a spooled 10-bolt rear. Supposedly the car ran 12's. It has the B&M bracket on the side and all.

The question have is, besides tearing the entire trans apart, is there a way I can tell what has been done to the trans? Is there an easy way to tell if the pump has been up graded or not? If I take the pan off, what would I be looking for to tell me this is not s stock rebuild?

Any help would be appreciated....

This trans is going into a car that weighes 3600, revs to 7000 and has 4.56's

Should I even try putting this trans in, or just use it as a core for ATI?

Simple answer. No. Even if you tore it down, I doubt you would find anything different about it other than maybe a shift kit was installed.

So should I use a basically unknown build in a car that makes 550HP or should I use it as a core and have ATI build me one?

The only difference is that ATI charges $922 for a trans and I already have this one.

If you already own it, why not install it and run it. If it breaks, swap it out with an ATI.
If you have more money than I do, use it for a core and buy the ATI trans now.
