700r4 LSX
probally going to be getting a lq4 or lq9 this summer and trying to do it as budget as possible which means keeping the 700r4 for the time being.
it has a B&M shift improver kit if that makes a big difference.
Here's the question:
Sure the new engine will likely make over 300 HP to the wheels, do i have anything to worry about?
I'm thinking not, since i wont have enough money for new wheels/tires until next year, at which point i'll have enough money to repair/replace anyting i break anyway (built t-56 hopefully)
So will the 700r4 hold up ok? right now she's running whatever tires come on a stock 15" rim, 215's I think, and not sticky by any means. correct me if i'm wrong but if the tires cant grab, things between them and the engine are alot less likely to break.
thanks for the input.

Re: 700r4 LSX
I dont think you would have any problems. The 700R4 is rated up to 350-375 hp. and if you dont have any traction i dont think you'll be breaking any tranny shafts. The only problem i can see you having is keeping the thing cool but you could always get a deeper oil pan.....

my question is....what are you going to do about the tv cable? as far as i know, the lsx motors have no provision for it since the 700r4 hasn't been put into a production vehicle since 1993. plus, the lsx wiring will not hook up to the 700r4 so you will also have to get a kit to lock-up the torque converter manually.

Re: 700r4 LSX
both good points. The torque converter doesnt really concern me. The lockup can just be disabled, or I have seen those kits you talked about, not a big issue there.
I had totally forgotten about the TV cable though. Truth be told i'm not really sure about how the whole TV cable works. I know ive heard of people running 700r4's w/ LSX's so there has to be some way to make it work. I'll dig into it some more and post up what i find out about it.
Anyone running one of these setup's lets hear how you make it work. Thanks again.

Re: 700r4 LSX
so, after a crash course sounds like the TV cable controls all the shift points, and if i'm right, 4l60's were all computer controlled thus eliminating the need for a TV cable.
So does anyone know of an adapter assembly of any sort? or do i have to make one? how would i go about that? i'll do some more digging to see what i find. post up if you've got answers, thanks.
also saw something about a new flexplate and flexplate adapter. any reason you couldnt run the stock flexplate and have just the adapter to get the flexplate to connect to the torque converter?

Re: 700r4 LSX
seems someone makes an adapter system for the TV cable.

also seems like ls1tech has way more helpful info on this setup. This thread helped, theres lots more there for anyone else considering this route.
