Dialing in the TV cable on the 700R

i know this has probably been anwsered already somewhere, but none of it made any sense to me, so maybe someone can explain it a little simplier. i got an '85 berlinetta with the 2.8 v6 and 700r trans. i recently replaced my tv cable cause it was broke. problem now is that my shift pattern is all wacko. how do i set the cable properly? im not real familiar with auto trans cause i mostly drive 5-speeds, so i need real simple instructions so i do this right and not burn anything up. thanks for the help...

Re: Dialing in the TV cable on the 700R

Just about every time I have re-set a TV cable it needed more adjustment.

Instructions tell you to push the button and push the slider all the way back towards the firewall..... then move the throttle linkage by hand to the WOT position. This action is supposed to pull the slider out to it's correct setting. Just about every time I have done this I have needed to pull the TV cable out a click or 2 more then the WOT setting.

That's my experience with the TV Cables over the years !
