T5 Question

I have an 85 camaro with a 305 and a wc T5 from a 91 RS which was just rebuilt 5,000 miles ago and now I'm getting a 350HO with 330hp and 380ft/lbs from jegs. I was wondering how long my T5 would hold up to the 350HO until she blows? I am not a crazy driver, I only do a few burnouts here and there. I want to use my T5 until it blows then i'm gettin a TKO-500 but I dont want to get it right now so thats why I was wondering how long my T5 will last?
P.S. I'm not interested in the T56. Thanx alot.

Re: T5 Question

Welcome to TGO. I run a non-WC behind my 350 HO Deluxe without problems, but I drive the car like the old fart I am. Simple really, I thinkk, the harder you drive the car, the more likely the trans will fail.

Until she blows.

There is no magic number, like, it'll go 31,674.05 miles or 1 year, 2 months, 17 days, 3 hours, 49 minutes, and 7.81 seconds, whichever comes first. Who knows; it might grenade the first time you let out on the clutch. It might last 100,000 miles. Alot of it is in how you drive it, but alot is just in the luck of the draw. When I had one in a similar situation, I said a little prayer of thanks every time I let out the clutch and the car moved; and made myself a mental note that I was one clutch operation closer to exploding it.
