New used transmission keeps leaking
New used transmission keeps leaking
Transmission got swapped out. The old one was leaking too. From what my friend told me it appears to be leaking out of the torque converter back into the transmission, then out and onto the ground. Is there some sort of seal that is supposed to go on the torque converter? He said he never saw one on there before

The snout of the torque converter passes through the front pump seal. That is likely the seal that is leaking. They can also leak at the bolts that secure the pump, and the pump itself has a large o-ring that could be the third source of a leak.
Usually, it is the front pump seal. While it is apart, slip a new o-ring on the end of the inputshaft.

Is the front pump seal the one that comes in a metal ring? If so, I gave him one with a bunch of parts and fluid when he put it in the car

There is a new front pump seal. I went to advance and they couldnt manage to finy any o-rings for the trans pump. Are you talking about hardened metal rings?
How would you go about replacing these? Would I need to have the trans removed again?
