700r4 deal?
so my buddy had this transmission built with all the good parts, like corvette servos and the good sun shell and clutches, with a shift kit, and a 3-4 eliminator, and all the good parts by a really good tranny guy in my area, and he was doing a burnout and his rear locked up on him, snapping his drive shaft and breaking the transmission case and it bent his flywheel, and so he had all his internals checked out and switched to another case, and so i was helping him put a it in a s10 with a small block today, and i seated the torque converter into the trans right before we put it in the truck, with the new flex plate, and the converter must have slid out a bit cause we went to tighten up the bell bolts, and it snapped one of the mounting ears off, because the converter jammed against the flywheel, not too bad, just around the mounting hole, so we just kept going and put everything back together, and now the thing shakes when you start it up, could it have bent up his torque converter when it broke everything the first time?
anyways hes fed up with automatics and he wants a stick now, and offered me the trans for 700 bucks, and i know the guy well and i know the guy who built it ok, and i know hes got over 1600 in this transmission, so if i weld the ear back on, and just get a new torque converter would i be ok? do you guys think it bent the main shaft when the torque got jammed and the mounting ear broke off? i dont think thats possible just by doing that, but who knows
sorry about the really long post, just wondering if i should take it or not, what do you guys think?

Re: 700r4 deal?
i wouldn't be concerned about the main shaft but what i have seen in these cases is when the trans was drawn into the block, and the converter is not all the way in, the hub on the converter could have broken the pump gears. make sure you check them out. all other internals should be ok. are all the dowl pins in the block? poss. bent flywheel from jamming the converter.
