Keep Limited Slip or go Posi??

Ok, so i do enter the car into Auto X events and as you guys alredy know when your trying to show off at an event it looks kinda gay when you do a burnout and only one wheel spins...so...heres my question, do you recomend i stick with my limited slip diff or should i change to posi? keep in mind i want whatever performs best with my application of Auto X and possibly drag racing in the future...also if i did choose the go Posi what would i have to purchase?

Thanks

Limited slip and posi are the same thing. Your thinking of a full locking differential which wouldnt be good for autocross.

ohh, i always thought limited slip transfered the tourque to the right wheel when the tires started to slip while posi just keps the constant torque on both wheels at all times.

He's not thinking of a full locker, he's just mis-naming what he has.

You dont have limited slip, which is just another name for posi. They are the same thing. You have what's called an open differential.

Cheapest option would be to look for a later thirdgen rear end with a posi or a 4th gen rear. It's cheaper to swap out the entire rear end for one with a posi than it is to swap a posi differential into your existing rear end.

Re: Keep Limited Slip or go Posi??

i know around here you can pick up a 4th gen posi rear for about 3-400 bucks, and the eaton posi insert is what like 450? its better to just swap rears and have the higher spline axles... like they said posi is limited slip just what GM calls there lsd...its funny how many people think they are different so dont feel dumb or alone lol... im happy my new iroc has the 9bolt 3.27 posi no more 2.73 one wheel peel for me......
