Re: torque converter help

i dont konw anything about ACC but you wont find many good converters for under 250bucks. A good converter is around 500. You can get buy with TCI or b&M stuff for 300-400

for a mild L98 i ran a 2800 stall but for more a street car you can do a 2200-2500 and love it

Re: torque converter help

well the transmisson guy quoted 325 dollars for one... but i thought that was too expensive and i thought i could find something cheaper... i see alot of 2000-2600 700r4 stall on ebay for 190 to 235 dollars..... i was wondering if those were any good.......

Re: torque converter help

you may find some used ones in good shape for that price range. I just never heard of those brands before. May want to search around to see if anyone is using it.

a S10 torque converter may give you 2000-2200 rpm stall speed in your car and you can get them for cheap i guess.

A torque converter tho is a fairly important mod and i dont think you should skimp on the quality trying to save a few bucks

whatever you get tho, make sure its got a anti-balloning plate and retains lockup feature

Well getting a converter is a little more then saying I have this motor. There are several factors in picking a torque converter. Cam,weight of the car, transmission, rearend gears. Basicly you want the converter to stall around your power band not before it and not half way threw it. Post the specs of your whoel setup and it would help a little more.

My bad I just say your sig.

Re: torque converter help

Looks like the guy at your tranny shop is about right. Make sure you get a 10in converter and a antiballoning plate is not really nessesary unless your going to be on the bottle. Always remember you get what you pay for. I would hate to see you buy a cheap converter and it lets loose and takes your tranny out with it. Do a search on here and yes what is recommended the most.
