Can someone please explain

Ok I changed my rear end from the stock 2.73 to 3.45 posi. The speedo is way off no question. In overdrive you can hear the car rpm abit but not too bad. But in drive you cant go more than 40 without it reving above 3000 rpms. I can't begin to think what would happen if I had a 3.73 or 4.11 gears.
How can I fix this?
