I have a 1992 700R4 that was just overhauled and they made the OD hydraulicly lockup. I have this in my 55 chevy 406SB, I am still dailing in the TV cable, but the problem is that it freewheels in third? When I am in OD its fine, but as soon as it drop down in third it freewheels. Any Idea's

Somethings wrong, I would take it back to who overhauled it.

 

I was hoping it was something simple!

 

You can make sure your shifter is actually putting it into drive (3rd), maybe it is in between gears or something. It isn't going to be a TV cable issue though.

Sounds very similiar to my tranny when the overrun clutches fried. Do you downshift from OD to third frequently with throttle closed? I suspect that's what fried my overrun clutches.
Does it freewheel in first and second gear also?

 

No, the trans is fresh, it work before, I just wanted to have it redone before I put it in my car. I dont think I have 5 miles on it
