10 bolt auburn posi

I recently bought a 10 bolt that came with an auburn posi. In the process of changing the fluid I found what looks like damage to the metal bracket that is in the center holding the springs. Do these "tears" belong? Everything else looks good. I can't tell if these are part of manufacturing or metal fatigue. Has anyone seen these before or know what may have caused them?
