VSS and overdrive gear?
So, I've had my 91 RS, automatic for a few years now, and probably about 7 months ago, my overdrive gear stopped working. The car has 145k miles on, I really didn't think much of it, since I've heard that overdrive gears have a tendency to go out at higher mileage. Shortly after the overdrive gear died, my VSS died, so I lost my speedometer.
I got a GPS, so I pretty much ignored the speedometer.
Fast forward to now, I finally got a new VSS, I'm all excited, blah blah, so I'm driving down the street, about 50 mph, and suddenly I drop into overdrive. It shocked me, I thought my car was going to stall haha.
Basically, I'm just wondering if the VSS and overdrive gear are at all related, or if this is just complete coincidence?
Thanks guys.
