Alrite so i have a 84 camaro z28 that my dad and i recently put a 350 out of a 75 stingray into my car. we had the car running and the motor so far seems to be running strong but the transmission is leaking out the front like a siv. so before we put the motor and trans back into the car i but a new seal in on the input shaft. im wondering if it mite be the wrong seal even tho the torque converter seems to seal tight with the trans. the other thing was a couple of the bolts that are on the front of the trans were loose. do any of you guys no if maybe that is the reason that the trans would be leaking so severly or is it possible that it could be something more major... im trying to do this car as much on a budget as possible but if i have to go to the extreme of getting it rebuilt then that would be the last choice. do any of you guys have any pointers or other things i could check to find out if that is in fact the problem or if its something more major? any bit of help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

 

when does the trans leak? park? drive ? reverse? not running ?

Or when does it seem to be the worst?

 

well the cable to put the car in park drive reverse etc. is broken so we kinda rigged it...so we had the car running in neutral because it the shifter wouldnt make it into drive but from wut it seemed like it would pretty much do it in any position

 

i had the same thing happen where it was leaking bad at idle my converter was not all the way on the trans.
