Rearend/Torque Arm and VIN#

I have a 1986 Camaro that had a V6 in it.
The VIN is 1G1FP87S5GL103203 When I look in
my Chiltons manual under the VIN it says my car came with a V8. Ok, so maybe someone took out the V8 and put in a V6 for whatever insane reason. Or am I reading this wrong?
And I was wondering what Rearend I have and there are no numbers anywhere accept on the bottom of the front housing. And those are
22622878
K8 6-23
GM N
Can anyone tell me what those mean?
I'm putting a V8 in it and don't want a lame rearend. I'm also gonna put a TH350 in it since the tranny on the V6 won't work. And I was gonna make a torque arm bracket and bolt it up solid and make a solid tranny cross member. Anyone know if this will work or will I end up breaking something?

Thanks.

None of those number mean anything to me. You need to get the axle code from the right hand axle tube on the front side. It should be somthing like "2HH C 218 D"

From the serial number, the original engine was a 2.8 V6. (eighth digit is S = 2.8 V6) The standard axle ratio for that engine in 86 was 3.42 with manual or automatic transmissions.

If the RPO listing is still in the car, you can get even more information from it. G80 is posi, etc.
